Kawhi Leonard is ready to return to the San Antonio Spurs' lineup and will play Wednesday when they host the Detroit Pistons, the team officially announced. Leonard missed 14 games with a broken right hand, suffering the injury on Jan. 22 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s Kawhi Leonard bobblehead night in San Antonio, and the Spurs’ starting small forward will make his return after missing 14 games.


San Antonio has gone 8-6 without Leonard. The third-year forward was averaging 11.6 points on a career-high 51 percent shooting, along with 6.1 rebounds per game. The Spurs regressed after Leonard's injury, also dealing with injuries to Tiago Splitter and Danny Green. Tony Parker is also currently sidelined with various injuries.
San Antonio was holding teams to 99.6 points per 100 possessions while scoring 108.3 points per 100 possessions from the start of the season until Leonard’s injury, according to NBA.com. The Spurs’ offensive rating dropped to 103.7 and defensive rating raised to 103.6 in the 14-game span without Leonard.
The Spurs begin a three-game homestand Wednesday against the Pistons, followed by the Charlotte Bobcats and Dallas Mavericks. They are currently second in the Western Conference, trailing the Thunder by 2.5 games.
