New Orleans Pelicans starting point guard Jrue Holiday will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to correct a stress fracture in his right tibia, the team officially announced. Holiday was diagnosed with the injury in January and the team was "optimistic" he could return within one month without surgery.

The team acquired Holiday from the Philadelphia 76ers in a draft day trade that sent the Sixers the draft rights to Nerlens Noel. Noel has missed his entire rookie season as he recovers from an ACL injury he suffered prior to the draft.

Holiday was shooting a career-high percentage from the field while averaging 14.7 points and 7.9 assists per game through 34 contests. New Orleans has gone 8-15 since the injury, dropping to the bottom-four in the Western Conference standings.

The team has been dealing with injuries throughout the season, most notably Ryan Anderson suffering a herniated disc. Anthony Davis has also missed time with a hand injury and is currently listed day-to-day after injuring his shoulder.
