Reports surfaced on Tuesday that Phil Jackson had come to terms with the New York Knicks to become a member of their front office. On Wednesday, Carmelo Anthony told Marc Berman at the New York Post that the Knicks informed him Jackson will be joining the Knicks in the near future.

Anthony admitted that he’d never personally spoken to the 13-time NBA Champion Jackson, but talked up his résumé and prowess when it comes to basketball:
“I heard he will be coming aboard. It’s not official yet. You can always use Phil Jackson’s insight on whatever. His philosophy. His mindset. His resume, what he brings to a team, organization, that goes without even saying.”
The former Nuggets star is likely to be a free agent come the summer of 2014 due to a player option, and with the Knicks posting a record of just 25-40 on the year, there's been rampant speculation about his future. Anthony, 29, is entering the final years of his prime and could start to feel the late-game itch for a championship many in his situation tend to get.
Anthony admitted he didn’t know exactly what Jackson’s role will be within the organization. Rumors have his demands anywhere from being allowed to live in California, to having complete control and an ownership stake in the organization.
If Jackson does join the ailing Knicks, he will have to deal with the signing of Anthony, the burden of an aging Amare Stoudemire, the coaching woes of Mike Woodson, Iman Shumpert's unhappiness, Raymond Felton's legal troubles and Andrea Bargnani. The dysfunction is vast in Manhattan but it appears the Zen Master is poised to return to where he won a championship as a player in 1973.
