Mike D'Antoni officially closes the door on Steve Nash returning this season for the Lakers. "He's not going to play."
— Mike Bresnahan (@Mike_Bresnahan) March 13, 2014 Nash was injured when he fractured his left leg in a collision with Portland guard Damian Lillard on Oct. 31. Nash returned to the court on Feb. 2 of this year but had to sit after playing just four games with continuing nerve issues in his back and leg.
The former Mavericks and Suns point guard has been documenting his journey back to recover with a Web series on Grantland.com, covering the agony of being an aging superstar trying to fight off the injury bug. Nash, slated to make $9.7 million in his final season with Los Angeles next year, recently said he would retire if the Lakers decide to waive him this summer under the stretch provision.
Los Angeles sits a half game above Utah for the worst record in the Western Conference at 22-42.
