2014 NBA scores: Heat pull one out in Cleveland, Hawks win in OT

Life hasn't been easy for the Heat recently, and Miami once again had to push for everything it got, this time in a 100-96 win over the struggling Cavaliers in Cleveland. But LeBron James made sure his team wouldn't fall back into the loss column without his running mate Dwyane Wade.

The MVP recorded 43 points and Chris Bosh added 21 of his own in the close-fought victory. Cleveland pulled within one possession in the final minute but couldn't quite get over the hump. The Cavs were without Kyrie Irving due to a biceps strain, got 22 from Jarrett Jack and 17 points on 19 shots from Dion Waiters in the loss.

From losing 14 out of 15 games to now winning five straight after a 118-113 victory over the Raptors, the Hawks have completely flipped things around. Atlanta got a triple-double (19 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) from Paul Millsap and 34 points from Jeff Teague in the tight overtime affair.

Toronto got 29 points, 10 boards and six assists from DeMar DeRozan but seemed to run out of gas as the game wound down. The Raptors are still in third place, a game up on the Bulls in the loss column. Atlanta remains the eighth seed, comfortably ahead of the ninth-place New York Knicks.

Well, that was close. The Trail Blazers hung on for a 120-115 overtime win over the lowly Bucks, and this was the kind of night it was.

Portland had to go without LaMarcus Aldridge again as he heals from his back contusion, but even without their star forward, this result is a surprise. It was important, too. The win keeps the Blazers two games up in the loss column on the Warriors for fifth seed in the conference.

Wesley Matthews (26 points), Mo Williams (23), Nicolas Batum (21) and Damian Lillard (20) combined for 90 points, and Portland needed all of them against Brandon Knight, Ramon Sessions and Milwaukee. Knight and Sessions tallied 24 and 23 points, respectively.

Rudy Gay, DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas each scored 24 points, and Thomas registered a triple-double with 11 boards and 10 dimes in the Kings' 117-111 win over the Wizards, who have now fallen out of fifth place in the Eastern Conference after recently beating the now fifth-place Nets.

Washington's entire starting lineup scored in double figures, and the team got 18 off the bench from Drew Gooden, but it wasn't enough. Sacramento outrebounded the Wizards, 57-41, and scored 23 points off 15 turnovers in the win.

The Warriors took care of business at home (as expected) in a 103-89 win over the Magic, making easy work of an inferior team, something that appeared to be difficult around the league on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry went for 23 points, and Klay Thompson and David Lee put up 20 apiece in the win, keeping Golden State a game ahead of the Mavericks and Grizzlies in the loss column for the sixth seed in the West. The Magic were led by Nikola Vucevic with 15 points.
