The Charlotte Bobcats have waived veteran guard Ben Gordon, the team officially announced. Gordon has played minimally for Charlotte, logging just 19 games and a total of 279 minutes. This cuts the Bobcats' roster down to 14 as they try to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

The release comes one day after the playoff eligibility cutoff, meaning Gordon can join a roster but cannot participate during the playoffs. The sides were reportedly working on a buyout agreement but were unable to reach a deal, leading to the team releasing Gordon. The 30-year-old guard is set to make $13.2 million in the final year of his contract.
Gordon is having the worst season of his career. His scoring average is under double-digits for the first time since joining the NBA, averaging just 5.2 points per game on 34 percent shooting from the field. He’s shot at least 40 percent from beyond the arc in seven of the nine seasons he’s played and is currently shooting a career-low 27 percent.
