The New Orleans Pelicans announced Thursday that second-year forward Anthony Davis will be shut down for the season to recover from back spasms, and in a joint statement, the team also said that guard Eric Gordon will miss the rest of the year and undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee next week.
Pelicans shut down Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon will undergo knee surgery
The 2013-14 season has come to an end for second-year forward Anthony Davis and guard Eric Gordon.

Davis finishes the season with his first All-Star bid to his name and averages of 20.8 points, 10 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He played in 67 games this year and sat out the Pelicans' Wednesday night loss to the Phoenix Suns with back spasms, the first of what will be five games missed at the end of the year.
The injury to Gordon might be more concerning for New Orleans, which got 64 games out of its often-injured shooting guard.
Gordon averaged 15.4 points and 3.3 assists per game in the second year of his max contract and has missed the last 10 games because of knee tendinitis. Gordon underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on his right knee in February of 2012.
