NBA Draft 2014: Latvian prospect Kristaps Porzingis to enter draft

The 18-year-old big man is a surprise addition to the draft pool.

Latvian prospect Kristaps Porzingis, who plays for Cajasol Sevilla in the Spanish ACB, will declare for the 2014 NBA Draft, according to DraftExpress' Jonathan Givony. Porzingis was projected to be a top-15 pick in the 2015 draft, and could be selected in the first round this year.

The 7’0, 220-pound big man is only 18 years old, and has a smooth-looking outside shot. He is long and lean, but is a project in every sense of the word. He will need to add lots of weight if he is going to be a post player.

Porzingis is averaging 6.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and one block in 14 minutes in 27 games for Cajasol this season. While those numbers are far from mind-blowing, he came off the bench to score 20 points against Real Madrid in early April, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the three-point line facing a roster full of ex-NBA players and NBA prospects.
