Last year’s two finalists are in the conference finals again. The Heat trailed by eight points with under four minutes left, but finished with a flourish to defeat the Nets, 96-94. Meanwhile, the Spurs annihilated the Blazers, 102-84.
Spurs dominate Blazers, advance to WCF

Chris CovattaIt looked like the Spurs were going to put the Blazers away early on in this game. San Antonio opened up a 15-point lead and had its offense clicking on all cylinders in the second quarter. But just when it seemed like the Spurs would run away with it, Portland went on a run and stayed in the game. The Spurs led, 51-44, at halftime behind an all-around team effort and an efficient 32-point second quarter.

Steve DykesThe team later confirmed their star point guard’s status and reported that he will not return to the game.
This doesn’t appear to be a serious injury, but the Spurs will certainly be monitoring it and their fans will be hoping that it doesn’t sideline him for too long.

Mike EhrmannJoe Johnson led a strong third quarter for the Nets, giving them a 75-66 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Johnson had an excellent game overall, scoring from all over the court and even beating LeBron James a number of times. In the end, Johnson’s 34 points just weren’t enough to secure the win and send the series back to Brooklyn.
Brooklyn had a chance to tie the game or take the lead with under 10 seconds to go, but the Miami defense absolutely locked down. The Nets never got a shot off and Miami won the series 4-1 on their home court.
