Heat vs. Pacers results, 2014 NBA playoffs: Indiana dominates Miami 107-96 to take 1-0 series lead

The Indiana Pacers delivered a statement in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, beating the Miami Heat 107-96 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday.

The 107 points were the most in a game for the Pacers all postseason. All five starters reached double-figures, with Paul George leading the way with 24 points. Roy Hibbert and David West both chipped in 19 points. Indiana shot 51.5-percent overall and went 8-of-19 from three, and the team also enjoyed a huge advantage at the free throw line. The Pacers went 29-of-37 from the charity stripe, while the Heat shot just 10-of-15.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade both had solid games, with James scoring 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting and Wade leading the Heat with 27 on 12-of-18 shooting. Miami actually made 51.3 percent of its shots, but struggled from long range, going just 6-of-23 on threes. Chris Bosh had a real rough go of it after shooting so well from deep in the first two series, missing all five of his three-point attempts.

After struggling at home against the Washington Wizards, the Pacers came out with guns blazing to get the crowd into it. Indiana knocked down 5-of-6 from long range in the first quarter, with George Hill burying three and George knocking down two. Thanks to the hot shooting and some sloppy play from the Heat, the Pacers jumped out to an early 10-point advantage.

James started to get things going offensively at the tail end of the opening frame, helping to trim Indiana's lead to six heading to the second. Wade joined the party in the second quarter, but the Pacers never relinquished their lead. Indiana's offense kept rolling, with Lance Stephenson doing an excellent job of orchestrating the second unit. Stephenson had 12 points and four assists in the first half as the Pacers shot 59.5 percent.

Coach Erik Spoelstra changed up his lineup in the second half, inserting Udonis Haslem at the 4 after starting the game with Shane Battier. The move didn't work, as Indiana continued to flourish on offense. The Pacers got in the bonus just four minutes into the third quarter, with Hibbert drawing numerous fouls and getting to the line eight times. The lead ballooned to 18 midway through the quarter and was at 19 toward the end of frame before Miami went on a run to trim the margin to 13 heading to the fourth.
