It’s clear Steve Kerr wants to become a head coach in the NBA next season and he has quite a few options at his front door.

Kerr has yet to nail down contract talks with New York and former mentor Phil Jackson, and according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger, he is keeping his options open. According to multiple reports, there is interest in the current TNT analyst coming from three other teams. The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz have all opened up their head coaching jobs, and all three have serious interest in Kerr.

Golden State is especially targeting Kerr to replace Mark Jackson, who was fired on Tuesday. According to a source of the New York Daily News' Frank Isola, the Warriors' job is Kerr's if he wants it. Team owner Joe Lacob knows Kerr well -- Isola reports he favors Kerr over Stan Van Gundy -- and team president Rick Welts worked with Kerr when the latter was general manager with the Phoenix Suns.
Additionally, Kerr’s daughter goes to school at Cal, and the West Coast ties would keep him on the same side of the country as his family, which lives in San Diego. Of course, the appeal of the Warriors’ location means Kerr would also likely consider the opening with the Lakers, who are moving forward without coach Mike D’Antoni.
The Utah Jazz, who fired coach Ty Corbin, are also hoping to make a run at Kerr, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.
Whatever is enticing to Kerr, the important part is that he holds all the cards. With so much interest, he might think twice about joining Phil Jackson in New York, where the Knicks face a tall rebuilding project with Carmelo Anthony hitting free agency and an owner, James Dolan, known for meddling.
