With so much time off for the Miami Heat after they swept the Charlotte Bobcats in the first round, a crisp 21-point win Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets to open the second round put LeBron James and Co. in a solid place. The Heat went by-the-book, casually trading punches with the Nets before blowing the game open in the second half.

James led five double-digit scorers on Tuesday and Ray Allen looked fresh with 19 points off the bench.

The pace wasn't necessarily fast in the 107-86 Miami victory, but the difference came in the quality of shots. Miami scored 52 points in the paint and hit 57 percent of its shots, while Brooklyn hit a not-too-shabby 47 percent but couldn't get many good looks. Several deep threes by Deron Williams and Joe Johnson made up for the lack of inside scoring, and in general the Nets need more elsewhere, from Paul Pierce to Kevin Garnett and from Mirza Teletovic to Mason Plumlee.

To win Game 2, the Nets can’t lose the rebounding battle and settle for outside buckets, all while allowing the Erik Spoelstra’s team to get what it wants.
