The Detroit Pistons have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent wing Cartier Martin, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Martin will be expected to provide shooting off the bench for a team that was plagued by spacing issues throughout last season.

Martin played 53 games with the Atlanta Hawks last season before being waived and catching on with the Chicago Bulls for six games. Martin made 38.4 percent of his threes (2.8 attempts per game) with Atlanta and averaged 5.8 points per game.

Martin will turn 30 years old in November. He’s a six-year NBA veteran after going undrafted in 2007 out of Kansas State. He’s also played for the Wizards, Bobcats and Warriors, in addition to professional stints in China, Italy, Turkey and the D-League.

The Pistons could certainly use more three-point shooting. Detroit shot only 32.1 percent from three-point range as a team last year, which was the second lowest mark in the league. Only the 76ers (31.2 percent) shot worse from the outside.
