LeBron James was pitched by the Miami Heat on Wednesday in Las Vegas, where Pat Riley's plan centered around a short term deal that would give James flexibility around the current core, per a tweet from ESPN's Michael Wallace.

President Pat Riley is trying to get The King to stay in South Beach by stressing the advantage of their current core.
A short term plan would allow Riley to show he can build around James as Dwyane Wade declines in ability and health. A huge concern for the Heat was depth, and Miami has already used their remaining available signings to nab Charlotte's Josh McRoberts for the full mid-level exception and Danny Granger for the bi-annual exception.
The King comes home
Granger is a bit of a reach on-par with Rashard Lewis, but McRoberts arguably had the best year of his career for the Charlotte last season. His ability to shoot and pass are his main strengths, and if nothing else at least adds size to the defensive end of the floor for coach Erik Spoelstra.
Whether James is convinced he can come back and battle with Wade and Chris Bosh for another season has yet to be determined. Riley's plan still isn't clear on how he would nail down the other two pieces of the Big 3, who are both free agents.
