Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has agreed to a three-year contract extension, according to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News. Myers, who had one year left on his existing deal, is now under contract through the 2017-18 season.

Myers joined the Warriors' organization in April 2011 as an assistant general manager. He was promoted to GM in April 2012 and helped oversee the franchise's turnaround after a string of rough seasons. In his first full season as GM, the Warriors went 47-35 and upset the Denver Nuggets in the first-round of the postseason before falling to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Golden State entered the 2013-14 season with even higher expectations following the acquisition of Andre Iguodala, and the Warriors won 51 games, marking just the fourth time the franchise won more than 50 games. However, with Andrew Bogut on the shelf, Golden State's season came to a disappointing end in a seven-game first-round series loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Despite the solid campaign, the Warriors' front office had its share of dysfunction. Assistant coach Brian Scalabrine was reassigned to the D-League in March due to some issues with head coach Mark Jackson, and assistant coach Darren Erman was fired several weeks later for secretly recording conversations between the coaching staff and players. Jackson was let go after the season, and Myers teamed with co-owner Joe Lacob to lead the coaching search that resulted in the hiring of Steve Kerr.

The busy offseason continued for Myers after the hiring of Kerr, as the Warriors were at the center of trade talks for Kevin Love. Debate raged within the organization about whether to include Klay Thompson in trade offers, and the decision was made to keep Thompson off the table. Love was ultimately traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the choice to keep Thompson out of the trade talks could wind up being the decision for which Myers is most remembered.
