James Harden injury: Rockets guard suffers bruised knee, returns to game

Houston star guard James Harden left the Rockets’ game on Saturday after suffering an apparent left knee injury. Harden was injured after attempting to drive to the basket. He landed a little awkwardly and immediately grabbed at his knee.

Harden remained down for a few minutes before eventually walking back to the locker room under his own power.

Harden is in the midst of arguably the best season of his career. He’s averaging 27 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while playing better defense than in recent seasons. His efforts have Houston as the current No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and he’s in the discussion -- if not the leader -- as the MVP of the first half.

Not only does Harden lead the Rockets in multiple categories, the 25-year-old is currently the NBA’s leading scorer, nearly a point per game ahead of LeBron James.
