Hornets sign Steve Clifford to 3-year extension
He’ll be in Charlotte through the 2018-19 season.

The 54-year-old Clifford, whose current contract was set to expire after this season, spent years as a scout and assistant coach, working for the Knicks, Rockets, Magic and Lakers, before being hired by the Hornets in May 2013. He led Charlotte to the playoffs that season and is 84-94 in two-plus years as the team's head coach.
The Hornets this season are 8-6, the seventh-best record in the Eastern Conference, and have won their last three games. After revamping its roster in the offseason Charlotte now has the NBA’s fourth-highest offensive rating (105.5). The team, however, is surrendering 101 points per 100 possessions.
Charlotte's next game is Wednesday night at home against the Wizards.
