Heat suspend Gerald Green 2 games, per report

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat have suspended guard Gerald Green two games for “conduct detrimental to the team”, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Wojnarowski reports the suspension comes after “law enforcement intervention at his condo on Nov. 4 that played a part in his four-day hospital stay.”

Last Wednesday, the Heat announced Green was taken to a Miami a hospital overnight with an illness.

“This morning we were informed that Gerald Green was admitted into the hospital,” the team’s statement read. “Right now our concerns are with Gerald and we have no further comment at this time.”

No further details on Green’s condition have been reported at this time. He was a last-minute absence from the Heat’s game against the Hawks Tuesday.

The 29-year-old veteran signed a one-year deal with the Heat in the offseason. He’s a career 37 percent three-point shooter and was acquired to provide instant offense off the bench.

In three games this year, Green is shooting 41 percent from deep, the same mark he shot during a strong preseason. He’s averaging 10.3 points in 21.3 minutes per game this year, but shooting just 32 percent from the field.

The Heat, now 2-2, travel to Minnesota Wednesday night to take on the 2-1 Timberwolves.
