Klay Thompson out vs. Celtics with ankle sprain

The Warriors will try to keep their winning streak alive in Boston without their two starting wings.

Klay Thompson has been ruled out for Golden State's Friday game against the Celtics after suffering an ankle sprain in the final minutes of Tuesday's win against the Pacers.

The Warriors are also without Harrison Barnes, out with an ankle issue of his own, which leaves them very thin at the wing as they attempt to move to 24-0 to start the season. The Warriors are playing in Milwaukee against the Bucks on Saturday to end a seven-game road trip and Thompson hopes to be available for that matchup.

“It is the team’s call, and if it’s not 100 percent Friday, I might have to sit out because we have such a quick turnaround,” Thompson said Thursday of the team’s decision, according to ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss. “I want to finish the trip on a high note in Milwaukee.”

Thompson is averaging 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the season while shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc.
