Rajon Rondo has been suspended one game for using a "derogatory and offensive term" toward official Bill Kennedy in the Kings' Dec. 3 loss against the Celtics.

Rondo will serve his suspension next Tuesday against the Rockets.


Rondo was called for a technical foul call midway through the third quarter and immediately approached Kennedy. He stared him down before being ejected and apparently said something before refusing to leave the court in a timely manner.
The suspension is not a surprise, but the fact that it took the league a week to make a decision about it is. The Kings played four games after the matchup against Boston and Rondo started all four. Their next game is Dec. 15 against the Rockets, so he will end up serving the suspension 12 days after the incident that prompted it
It's a big loss for the Kings, as Rondo has rediscovered his game in Sacramento. For the season he's averaging 12 points, seven rebounds and a league-leading 11 assists per game. Darren Collison will likely fill in for him in the starting lineup.
