First off, a quick introduction. If you don’t know what FanDuel is, well, you’re missing out. FanDuel is a site that offers daily fantasy sports games. Participants get a chance every day to select new players, fill out a lineup and, most importantly, win some cash. If you choose poorly Monday, you can come back Tuesday and try again. Easy as that. As for what we're doing in this space: The goal here will be to direct your attention toward some players who you might not otherwise consider. If you're here and reading this, then you already know that LeBron James is really good. But when filling out a roster you can't just pick out stars. You'll blow your cap and get stuck praying to the basketball gods that a guy like Kosta Koufos gets into the game. No, if you want to win, you have to take advantage of certain matchups -- and in order to do that you have to know where to look. That's what we're here for. Also, this space is going to be used to give you advice for the games on Sunday, Dec 13. So, with that, let's get started.

3 players to target

Kyle Lowry, PG, Raptors ($9,000): Lowry came back in better shape this season and it's paying off. He's been fantastic all year and is averaging 23 points, 6.8 assists and 5.6 rebounds over his last five games. On Sunday he gets to face the impotent Sixers who have yet to prove they can guard anyone.

Karl-Anthony Towns, C, Timberwolves ($7,300): Sunday's Suns-Timberwolves game features two of the higher scoring teams in the NBA. That should mean more opportunities for players on both sides, which bodes well for Towns. The rookie and recent No. 1 pick is averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks over his last five games. No reason to believe he won't at least match those numbers in Phoenix on Sunday.

Gordon Hayward, SG, Jazz ($7,100): The Jazz are running their offense through the white-hot Hayward and it's paying off. Over his last five games he's averaging 21.4 points on 50 percent shooting, six rebounds, 4.6 assists and two steals. That the Thunder, who the Jazz play on Sunday, at times struggle to defend just makes this matchup even better.

3 players to avoid

Russell Westbrook, PG, Thunder ($10,700): Only four teams are surrendering fewer FanDuel points per game to opposing points guards that the Jazz, who Westbrook and the Thunder take on Sunday. Westbrook is obviously great, but no reason to blow your budget on a player facing a rough matchup.

Hassan Whiteside, C, Heat ($7,200): For one, Whiteside has struggled to stay on the court of late. He's averaging less than 23 minutes over his last five games. Also problematic for Sunday: He and the Heat take on the Memphis Grizzlies, which means the still raw Whiteside will be forced to battle with Marc Gasol. Gasol is one of the few players in the NBA who has the size and athleticism to stick with the springy Heat center. He has the savvy to bother Whiteside as well.

Nerlens Noel, PF, Sixers ($5,800): Noel has yet to figure out how to mesh with rookie center Jahlil Okafor. He's averaging just 10 points and six rebounds over his last five games, and his blocks and steals are down as well. Someone on Philly is going to need to put up some numbers, but don't expect it to be Noel.

Other Notables

Hassan Whiteside is mentioned above -- it would be a good idea to avoid most of Heat and Grizzlies on Sunday, two of the slower playing teams in the league. ... Someone on the Sixers has to score. The best bet for Sunday is Jahlil Okafor, who's averaging 18 points and seven rebounds over his last three games. ... Andrew Wiggins is only going for $6,800, yet is averaging 19 points over his last five games.
