Stephen Curry has another award to add to his mantle: 2015 Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year. Sports editors and writers around the country made Curry the fourth basketball player to win the award.

Curry’s achievements in 2015 is a laundry list of accomplishments. The NBA MVP, an NBA Championship and now leading a team on pace for a record-breaking season. His 2015 playoff run was the stuff of legend. Curry averaged 28.3 points and a career-high 5.0 rebounds while shooting 0.456 from the field.

Four different NBA players have been awarded the AP Male Athlete of the Year since the award’s inception in 1931. Curry joins LeBron James (2013), Michael Jordan (1993, 1992, 1991) and Larry Bird (1986) as basketball’s lone recipients.

Only three men have won the award in consecutive years. Judging from the beginning to his 2015-16 campaign there’s a distinct possibility we could see this award as the start of a long reign.
