It’s unclear whether the Warriors are mortal

Good morning. We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

Good morning. Let’s basketball.

22-0: The Warriors won two more times over the weekend, though the Raptors gave them all they wanted on Saturday. This is getting out of hand.

THE EAST IS BACK. MAYBE. Paul Flannery’s Sunday Shootaround surveys the resurgent East, which is deep and improved but still doesn’t have a clear No. 2. He also looks at the early leaderboard for the major awards and has your favorite quotes, links and Vine of the week. Check it out.

BEST SINCE WILT: I have charts to suggest Stephen Curry is having the greatest scoring season in basketball history. His mix of volume and efficiency is completely unprecedented.

WHOA: The Grizzlies won on an inbounds alley-oop with 0.8 seconds to go? Well I never! (Actually ...)

THE INCREDIBLE FEATS OF SHANE LARKIN: I’ve watched this Shane Larkin transition block 100 times this weekend, and I understand it even less on every loop ...

JENGA: An argument (with evidence) that the American pro sports industry is a massive bubble right now, and that it is about to pop.

CRAZY CRAZY: This Rajon Rondo pass out of an offensive rebound is just totally bonkers.

KINDA CREEPY: This is Andre Drummond spending the entirety of Reggie Jackson’s post-game interview staring into the camera/your soul.

ANGRY P: Nick Young gets mad he got his shot blocked, shoves Anthony Tolliver, gets ejected, blames the Lakers’ record.

THE BROW IN THE MIDDLE: After taking in the epic Cavaliers-Pelicans Friday night bout and looking the numbers, I decided that Anthony Davis should become New Orleans’ full-time center.

SHAQTIN: Jeremy Lin loses his legs, keeps the dribble alive and ... misses a point blank wide open layup. This is actually super easy to understand (he was all discombobulated!) but still hilarious to watch.

OH DIRK: Pau Gasol, preparing for his 1,000th game, asks his Twitter followers for their favorite Pau moments. Dirk Nowitzki replies with a link to Pau getting dunked on hard. Rude.

MAGICAL: Orlando’s turn of fortune coincides with Victor Oladipo’s shift to the second unit.

INTERESTING: Zach Lowe talks to Brett Brown about whether The Process is going wrong or there are just some expected blips.

SIDESHOW: Kobe had a stomach virus and was a game-time decision. Byron Scott left the decision up to Kobe. He played because it’d be his last game in Detroit, and we know how much the city of Detroit meant to Kobe’s career. (It didn’t.) Kobe played 25 minutes for some reason, including the entire third. He went 2-15 from the floor. No other Laker took more than 12 shots. I mean, since announcing his retirement Kobe’s shot selection has gotten even more ridiculous, which is saying something.

SPEAKING OF WHICH ... Marc Stein on why Kobe might still make the U.S. team heading to the Olympics in Brazil next summer.

NOT SURE IF SERIOUS: Timofey Mozgov claims that in Russia they ride bears instead of horses.

OH TEENAGERS: Dwyane Wade’s son is hilarious, refuses to commend Wade’s in-game dunk during an on-screen interview.

WEIRD TIMES: The Friday finish to Wizards-Suns was super bizarre on account of free throw lineup hijinks.

INTERESTING: Mark Cuban is funding a massive study on the positive benefits of HGH.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: Foster kids have absurdly difficult childhoods. Often, they are placed in new homes unexpectedly, and take with them only the clothes on their backs. If they have any personal items, they are usually in bad shape and need to be replaced. That burden typically falls on the foster family, who is already making enormous financial sacrifices to help a kid in need.

Not all of us are in a position to provide a home for foster children. But we can help in another way: by donating money to help buy those items every foster kid needs and deserves. We can help foster kids get new pajamas and shoes, backpacks and school supplies. We can make sure they can partcipate in enriching extracurricular activities like sports or music. We can make sure there’s something under the Christmas tree for them.

The Sleep Train Foster Kids program raises money and collect items then distributed to local foster children support services. Sleep Train partners with local, boot-on-the-ground non-profits to ensure foster kids and families have what they need. I’m running a fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $10,000 for foster kids this December. Donate between now and December 25 to help make life a little easier for this kids. Donors will be feted in GMIB all month. Including three heroes who have already donated: Jeffrey Braverman, Aaron R. and Matt Espenshade. Thanks, bros!

You can donate by credit card easily online. Donations are tax-deductible. Let’s fundraise.

Happy Monday. See you next time.
