Kevin Garnett rules out buyout, only entertaining 1 trade

Kevin Garnett will stay with the Nets unless he’s traded to the Timberwolves.

Kevin Garnett has ruled out a buyout despite Doc Rivers' interest in signing him if he was waived, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Garnett has been reluctant to entertain a buyout, citing the problems of uprooting his family in the middle of the season as the main reason, yet the possibility still seems to exists mainly because a reunion with Rivers could prove enticing. That won’t happen.

A trade that could send Garnett to the Timberwolves still remains a possibility. The team that drafted Garnett has been trying to get him back in the fold in what will likely be his last season as a pro, offering Thaddeus Young in return. The Nets have reportedly been interested in Young for a while and would be amenable to parting ways with Garnett as they gear up for a playoff push. Since Garnett has a no-trade clause on his contract, he would have to consent to the trade. He's still considering doing just that, according to Wojnarowski.

Young is averaging 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 33.4 minutes per game this season while Garnett is posting 6.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20.3 minutes per game.
