NBA schedule and results: Thunder beat Hawks, Nets beat Bucks in triple overtime

The Hawks started the game on a mission, ready to bounce back from a defeat at the hands of the Warriors two nights earlier. They scored quickly and often, jumping out to a 68-61 halftime lead. They kept pouring it on in the third, leading by as many as 12, but the Thunder stayed within striking distance.

With 8:45 to play, the Hawks led by seven. It looked like they were going to be too much down the stretch. Then the Thunder went off. Over the next five minutes, they went on a 19-2 run to take a 115-105 lead. With a little more than three minutes to play, the game was over. The Thunder hit five threes in the quarter -- Morrow made three, Westbrook two -- and outscored the Hawks, 33-20.

This isn’t the first time John Wall pulled off the leaping 360 spin for a layup, but it was the most breathtaking. Matt Barnes was smart to lean out of the way.

Perfect form, but I’m really disappointed the ref didn’t have the presence of mind to call him safe.

There’s no way around it: Marcus Smart is going to face a likely suspension for this low blow on Matt Bonner. Smart was trying to fight through one screen, fell off-balanced and began winding up for a close-fisted (or at least closed-knuckled punch) as he slammed into Bonner’s midsection.

A very generous read of this play would suggst his body was all jacked up from the previous pick and momentum carried his punch into Bonner’s crotch, but just typing that sentence makes me ill. It sure looks intentional and it sure looks dirty.

The thing about trying to block Brook Lopez’s dunk when you are Ersan Ilyasova and he has really deep position is ... don’t do that, he’s taller than you and you’re going to look very bad:

Kenneth Faried was caught picking up his dribble, so he tried doing the off-the-backboard trick made popular by Tracy McGrady and recently pulled off by Gerald Green. He found out it’s much harder than it looks.

Here’s hoping other NBA players keep trying this. Don’t let Faried’s failure dissuade you!

Lil B literally added insult to Kevin Durant’s injury. In his latest tirade against the former MVP, BasedGod the sorcerer says that he won’t be with the Thunder for too much longer.

Between a diss record and Durant calling Lil B a “wack rapper” the BasedGod has had it out for Durant since 2011 when he casted the “BasedGod’s Curse” on Durant, saying he would never win a title. He dropped his curse a year later but that was right before he dropped his diss record.
