Pau Gasol to miss Game 4 against Cavaliers

The Chicago Bulls will be without their starting center, who will be on the bench with a hamstring injury.

Pau Gasol will miss Game 4 of the Chicago Bulls' series with the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a hamstring injury, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Sunday before the game.

Gasol sat out much of the second half of Game 3, which the Bulls won on a desperation shot by Derrick Rose. The Bulls lead the series 2-1.

Thibodeau did not announce who would start in Gasol’s place. Gasol, who averaged 18.5 points and 11.8 rebounds in the regular season, struggled in Game 2 against the Cavs before being limited in Game 3. He’s averaging just 12.7 points and six rebounds per game in the series.

Without Gasol, the struggling Joakim Noah will have to take on more responsibility down low against Tristan Thompson and Timofey Mozgov. Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic will likely see more playing time without Gasol's services.

The Bulls have never beaten a LeBron James-led team in the playoffs. Gasol will be missed as they look to take control of the series before heading back to Cleveland for Game 5.
