Warriors’ championship parade set for Friday morning in Oakland
Oakland will celebrate its first championship since 1975 on Friday.

The parade will start on Broadway at 11th Street, then turn right on Grand Avenue, and right on Harrison to Lakeside Drive before ending on Oak and proceeding to the convention center. The team says fans can begin lining up for the rally as early as 5 a.m. at the corner of Lakeshore and 12th Street.

For those using public transportation, BART will run extra trains through the city all day and will modify routes to accommodate the event. The team also recommends checking the website for AC Transit for details on how their transportation options will be affected.
The last time the Bay Area enjoyed an NBA title run was 1975, when the Warriors stunned the Washington Bullets in the Finals. (The Warriors’ home games in that series actually had to be played across the bay at the Cow Palace in Daly City due to a scheduling conflict at the Oakland Arena.) Here’s a look from the San Francisco Chronicle at how the fans celebrated that championship 40 years ago.
