The Kings are pushing hard to add free agent point guard Rajon Rondo to the roster, according to reports.
Kings recruiting Rajon Rondo hard, according to reports
Sacramento is reportedly one of the most likely landing spots for the free agent point guard.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that Sacramento forward Rudy Gay had been involved in trying to convince Rondo, his close friend, to come west. Yahoo!‘s Marc Spears reports that Kings boss Vlade Divac reached out to Rondo just after the free agency period opened at midnight Wednesday and invited the point guard for a visit.
Previous reports already linked the Kings and Rondo, who is a free agent after a disastrous half season in Dallas that ended in his dismissal from the team in the playoffs. Because of his struggles, Rondo is likely looking to sign a one-year deal to bounce back and rebuild his value, according to Stein.
Rondo hasn't been the same level of player since he tore his ACL in 2013. The expectations in Dallas was that the 29-year-old would be rejuvenated by joining a playoff team, but he was a poor fit with the Mavericks and the team played better when he was on the bench.
However, he still has some advocates in the league and Sacramento appears to be one of them. Now, the biggest question is how far his value has plummeted.
