The Spurs still want Manu Ginobili back, according to report

The Spurs want their veteran back for one more season.

Manu Ginobili still hasn't decided whether he's coming back for his 14th season, but after the San Antonio Spurs signed LaMarcus Aldridge, the franchise is lobbying hard for Ginobili to return, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Spurs have had a busy offseason. Not only did they land one of the biggest free agents in Aldridge, they also brought back Danny Green and convinced Tim Duncan to come back for his 19th season. They're currently in pursuit of veteran David West.

The Spurs have, however, lost a little bit of depth, which is why bringing Ginobili back for one more year is so important. They traded away Tiago Splitter and Aaron Baynes signed with the Detroit Pistons.

Ginobili, who turns 38 at the end of July, will announce his decision in a column in Argentina's La Nacion this summer. The 2015-16 season was one of Ginobili's least productive, but he still averaged 10.5 points and 4.2 assists in 22.7 minutes per game. He can provide a spark off the bench and fits into the Spurs system seamlessly.

Ginobili is no longer part of the Spurs’ Big Three, but bringing him back bolsters the Spurs chances of reclaiming the NBA crown.
