Chandler Parsons says disrespectful DeAndre Jordan ‘wasn’t ready to be a franchise player’

The Mavs forwarded unloaded on Jordan a day after ‘The Decommitment’

The dust is still settling from DeAndre Jordan’s decision to renege on his verbal commitment with the Dallas Mavericks and go back to the Los Angeles Clippers. We’ve already had a Mark Cuban explosion, a strong defense from Doc Rivers, and now some fighting words from Dallas small forward Chandler Parsons.

Parsons drew attention throughout the Mavericks’ courtship with Jordan as something like the Mavericks’ lead recruiter. He met with Jordan as free agency opened on July 1 and helped him go through the process of pledging with Dallas. After Jordan spurned the Mavs to re-sign with the Clippers on Thursday, Parsons blasted Jordan for his inability to honor his word.

Parsons said Jordan “wasn’t ready to be a franchise player,” and he didn’t stop there:

“I’m shocked, very disappointed, frustrated, disrespected. This is something that I’ve never seen in my career, and I know that it doesn’t happen very often. When a man gives you his word and an organization his word, especially when that organization put in so much effort and I walked him through this process and was very, very open and willing to work with him, it’s just very unethical and disrespectful.”

Parsons described himself as “shocked, very disappointed, frustrated and disrespected.” You can read the entire interview on ESPN Dallas.
