USA Basketball has released a list of 30 finalists for its roster at the 2016 Rio Olympics. It includes familiar faces like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, who have already been a part of three Olympic rosters for the United States. One name it doesn't include is Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls point guard who opted not to compete in the program's August mini-camp.

LeBron, Carmelo and Kevin Durant are all back for another go with USA Basketball.

Nine of the 12 members of 2012's gold medal winning team have been named finalists for 2016. The three players who didn't make the cut are Kobe Bryant, Deron Williams and Tyson Chandler. Bryant stated this weekend that he would not be trying out for the roster after some speculation the Olympics could be the final note to his legendary career.
Rose was a starter on the USA's 2010 FIBA World Championship team. He was on the roster for the 2014 FIBA World Cup after playing in only 10 NBA games the last two seasons because of knee injuries. Rose missed a mandatory minicamp for the team in August of 2015. He's averaging 14.8 points and 4.8 assists on 40 percent shooting from the field for the Chicago Bulls this season.
Another notable omission is Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard. Lillard was cut from the 2014 FIBA World Cup team and did not attend the team's mini-camp last August.
