Steve Kerr will return to the Golden State Warriors bench on Friday to coach his team in their game against the Indiana Pacers, the team announced via press release and a musical act.

Kerr will coach his team in a game for the first time this season after spending time away from the bench to recover from a spinal fluid leak.

Kerr has not coached the team so far this season. He underwent back surgery in the offseason and suffered a spinal fluid leak that has kept him off the bench until now. Interim coach Luke Walton has done a great job in his stead, leading the Warriors to the best start in NBA history and a 39-4 record. Still, the team really needed its leader back for the second half of the season.
Kerr has coached in practices and gone on road trips with the team to gauge whether he could withstand the rigors of coaching in the NBA. The three-game homestead the Warriors start on Friday will allow him to ease back into his routine.
He seemed in good spirits during media availability, as he described what he went through and thanked the organization for its patience.
In the 2014-15 season, his first as a coach, Kerr led the Warriors to a 67-15 record and an NBA championship.
