The Thunder have traded for Nuggets’ guard Randy Foye, according to the Denver Post’s Chris Dempsey. D.J. Augustin, Steve Novak and two future second-round picks go back to Denver in the deal, according to CBS Sports’ Ken Berger.

Foye has spent the last three seasons in Denver, where he has been both a starter and a back up. With the Nuggets going younger recently, he was an awkward fit on that roster and was rumored to be on the block. The veteran shooting guard has seen his numbers decline in recent seasons, but he’s a good locker room influence who can still help a team in a limited role.
With the Thunder he will in all likelihood come off the bench to provide some scoring and ball handling. He will be able to simply focus on hitting open shots, which should help improve his atrocious field goal percentage. If he doesn’t work out as expected, he’s only in the books until the end of this season, so there’s really no risk in the transaction for Oklahoma City.
Augustin gives Denver insurance at point guard behind rookie Emmanuel Mudiay. Normal backup Jameer Nelson has been struggling with injuries.
