The short-handed Memphis Grizzlies stuck with the San Antonio Spurs for nearly one half in Game 1 on Sunday, but the Spurs inevitably pulled away and cruised to a 106-74 victory. The Grizzlies will do all they can to change their fortunes in Tuesday's Game 2, but they simply don't have the firepower to hang with the 67-win Spurs.

The Grizzlies will try to regroup after getting blown out in Game 1, but they don’t have enough to compete.
Memphis was able to muck up the first half of Game 1, which had them down just two points with around three minutes left in the second quarter. But part of that was just San Antonio missing shots it normally makes, and once those shots started going down, it was a wrap.
There's only so much the Grizzlies can do when they're missing Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, especially against the top-ranked Spurs defense. With Zach Randolph struggling to the tune of six points on 3-of-13 shooting, 39-year-old Vince Carter and the enigmatic Lance Stephenson were the only two Grizzlies to score in double figures. Memphis shot under 40 percent from the field and turned it over 16 times, and it's hard to see much changing for them offensively.
Kawhi Leonard led San Antonio with 20 points, and he'll be playing in his first game after being named the repeat winner of the Defensive Player of the Year award. As long as the Spurs remain focused and play their game, this should be another blowout.
