Unless they receive an offer they can't refuse, the Los Angeles Lakers plan on selecting Duke freshman forward Brandon Ingram with the second pick Thursday night in the 2016 NBA Draft, according to ESPN's Chad Ford and Ramona Shelburne. This report comes one day after both the Sixers and Ben Simmons made clear that Philadelphia intends on making Simmons the top pick in the draft.
The Lakers plan to take Brandon Ingram with the No. 2 pick, per report
The only way the former Duke forward doesn’t end up in L.A. is if the team is offered a young All-Star in a trade, which probably won’t happen.

Ingram, a 6’9, 190-pound forward that grew up in North Carolina, averaged 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds while shooting 41 percent deep from during his freshman year at Duke. The Lakers, according to Shelburne, are intrigued by his shooting and ability to guard multiple positions and prefer him over the other prospects they worked out, such as Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield and Providence’s Kris Dunn. Most experts and analysts have Ingram ranked as the second-best player in the draft, behind Simmons.
The only way the Lakers don’t wind up with Ingram on their team is if they receive a trade offer for the No. 2 pick that would net them a young All-Star, according to Shelburne.
The Lakers are coming off a disappointing 17-65 season. This draft will be the first one with new head coach Luke Walton at the helm.
