Matt Barnes agrees to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, per report

The Kings make yet another move that their fans won’t love.

Matt Barnes has reached an agreement with the Sacramento Kings for next season, according to USA Today's Sam Amick. It will be a two-year, $12 million deal with a second-year player option, per CSN California's James Ham.

Barnes is a 13-year NBA veteran who has bounced all around the NBA in his career, seeming to always find a way to be a productive player, mostly as a 3-and-D wing. He’s a 33.5 percent career shooter behind the arc, and hit a career-high of 36 percent two seasons ago with the Los Angeles Clippers. Although he’ll turn 37 years old next season, he’s still a passable defender.

However, Barnes is probably best known for his trouble off the court. The veteran was arrested twice for domestic assault a few years ago, and last season, he was involved in an incident where he drove 95 miles to assault Derek Fisher for dating one of his exes. He was suspended two games in December for that altercation, and suspended another game in March for pursuing the Bucks’ John Henson down a hallway after the two exchanged words on the court and Henson was ejected. SB Nation’s Tom Ziller wrote this about Barnes last season.

Clearly, the Kings believe Barnes’ value on the court is worth putting up with his frequently problematic behavior, but it may not sit well with Sacramento fans. The front office has been making puzzling roster moves for years and signing Barnes will not sit well with many of the Kings faithful.
