NBA scores 2017: The Mavericks handed the Lakers their worst loss in franchise history

Dallas beat Los Angeles by 49.

Wins are wins, losses are losses, and blowouts are blowouts. It’s the nature of professional sports — somebody’s gotta win, and somebody’s gotta lose.

And then there’s getting smoked like the Los Angeles Lakers did on Sunday when the Dallas Mavericks gave them a beatdown of epic proportions.

Seven Dallas players scored in double-digits, led by Justin Anderson’s 19 points off the bench. The Mavericks won by 49, holding Los Angeles to just 73 points.

Only two Lakers players (Jordan Clarkson, 10 points; Lou Williams, 15 points) scored in double-digits. Los Angeles shot just 38.4 percent as a whole. The only Maverick starter not to score 10 points was Harrison Barnes.

Eric Bledsoe set a new career high

Bledsoe torched the Raptors for 40 points on 11-for-17 shooting in Phoenix’s win over Toronto. He became the first Suns player to record a 40-point, 10-assist game since Steve Nash in 2006.

Here are his last three buckets:

He also had 13 dimes, leading the Suns to their second win in a row. After the game, he spoke to NBA TV about his career night.

“You know how it goes, man. When you’re feeling hot, everything goes in,” Bledsoe said. “I just tried to stay aggressive. My teammates, I love ‘em, man. They was telling me to just play the game, and that’s what I did.”

Marquese Chriss brought the house down with a one-handed alley-oop finish

Chriss finished with only four points, but he scored with his teammates for a huge dunk he had in the third quarter. You can see P.J. Tucker hop out of his seat on the bench when the rookie put the hammer down.

Kyle Lowry got ejected for swiping at Brandon Knight’s head

A frustrating night for the Raptors ended with Lowry taking a swipe at Suns guard Brandon Knight in the fourth quarter. Officials assessed him a flagrant foul two and ejected him from the game.

Afterward, he addressed the media to clarify it was not a “dirty play” and that Knight faked him out by taking another dribble.

“No, it wasn’t. It was not a dirty play at all,” Lowry told reporters after the game. “Honestly, I thought he was gonna go for a floater. I swiped across and hit his head, he took another dribble. I’m not a dirty player. I already sent a text to apologize to him. For me, that’s not how I am. I already sent a text to apologize. It was out of frustration. It was literally, thought he was gonna shoot a floater, swiped over the top. I’ve done it a million times, he didn’t, he took another dribble, hit him in the head. Nothing dirty, nothing intentional. Not my type of style. It’s not who I am.”

A fan threw an item from the stands towards the Suns bench when Lowry was escorted to the locker room.

Sunday’s top performances

Eric Bledsoe: 40 points (11-for-17 shooting), 13 assists

Phoenix (15-29) will need more scoring bursts from Bledsoe if it wants to catch Denver for the Western Conference’s No. 8 seed.

Karl-Anthony Towns: 32 points (13-for-19 shooting), 12 rebounds, seven assists, four blocks

Towns does something mind-blowing every game. Only this time, he seems to have scraped Kenneth Faried in the face on the way to the rack.

Jonas Valanciunas: 16 points (6-for-10 shooting), 12 rebounds, three blocks

Valanciunas is one of the league’s more physical centers, and he bullied the Suns on Sunday. Unfortunately, his Raptors came up with the short end of the stick.

Elfrid Payton: 23 points (11-for-18 shooting), 10 assists

The Magic play better when Payton is looking to dime his teammates. Orlando fell to a juggernaut Warriors team, but Orlando’s floor general showed a few of the tricks up his sleeve.

Stephen Curry: 27 points (8-for-15 shooting, 7-for-13 three-pointers), six assists, four rebounds

If you forgot Curry had unlimited range, he reminded you on Sunday.
