LeBron James keeps triple-doubling, and 6 other things from Sunday

He became the second-oldest player to do it three games in a row.

LeBron James will play basketball at an elite level into his 80s. This year has finally convinced me. Somehow, in his 15th season, the 33-year-old is getting better, and showing new forms of alien-like play all the time.

In the Cavs’ 106-99 win over the Wizards on the road, James triple-doubled for the third straight game. He became the second-oldest player to accomplish that feat behind Jason Kidd.

And he wasn’t supposed to even play in this game. Head coach Ty Lue wanted him to sit the game out. But James doesn’t care about playing in back-to-backs. He plays when he wants to.

His 20-point, 15-assist, and 12-rebound performance may have even been one of his worst showings of the year, too. He had six turnovers and only shot 8-of-23 from the field. But when he’s doing so many things right, it’s easy to forgive the mistakes.

Especially when he does this:

My God. LeBron James forever.

Is Mario Hezonja for real?

Hezonja hasn’t held a steady place in the Magic’s lineup since they drafted him No. 5 overall in 2015, but he’s seen 20-plus minutes per game over his last four outings due to several injuries.

He’s making the most of his minutes, draining eight of the 12 threes he took on Sunday night in his team’s 114-110 loss to the Pistons. His career-high 28 points helped spark a 19-0 Orlando run to pull his team back in range.

It was nearly enough.

Maybe he deserves more time in this cluttered Orlando lineup.

Victor Oladipo’s just fine

He may have shot poorly in Paul George’s return to Indiana, but he quickly bounced back with a 26-point showing to beat the Nets, 109-97. He shot 9-of-14 from the field, and made 4-of-6 from deep. He also had seven assists.
