Good morning. Let’s basketball.

The Washington Wizards, having their best season in perhaps three decades, almost had the Cleveland Cavaliers beat. Kevin Love was inbounding from the end baseline with 3.4 seconds left and the Cavs down by three.

He made that pass, and LeBron made that shot. Just unbelievable.

What a pass, what a shot.

In overtime, would you believe that Kyrie Irving hit a classic clutch stepback to ice the game? Of course you would. Would you believe that Kevin Love had his best game of the season just as rumors LeBron wants Cleveland to trade him for Carmelo Anthony began swirling? Of course you would. (LeBron called those rumors “trash” by the way.)

The Cavs win the duel 140-135, but there’s no reason for the Wizards to feel down. They can hang with the best team in the East. I would not be mad at 4-7 games of this in the spring.

Mt. Boogie

DeMarcus Cousins had an eventful Monday night. He and noted role model Matt Barnes got mixed up physically with Bulls assistant coach Jim Boylen as old friend Rajon Rondo and Taj Gibson argued a call with a ref. Later, Boogie got ejected after demonstratively arguing a critical non-call with 1.1 seconds left.

The two technicals Cousins picked up give him 16 on the season. Unless one is rescinded, he’ll be suspended for the Kings’ next game. He would also be suspended for each two techs he earns the rest of the season.

The Kings lost, by the way.

The Heat are failing to fail. I wrote about their inability to tank. They won their 11th straight on Monday, by the way, and could get up to 15 by next week.

Bradley Beal was awesome in Wiz-Cavs. Most impressively, he might have literally broken Iman Shumpert’s ankle on a nasty stepback. (It’s probably a sprain.)

Vince Carter, age 40, had four blocks against the Spurs. FOUR!

The Kings insist they will not trade Boogie Cousins.

A girl wanted to play basketball at her private school. The school folded the girl’s basketball team and refused to allow her to play with the boys. The family sued. So she and her sister got expelled. Sheesh.

Spicy rumor alert: The Pelicans have talked about acquiring Jahlil Okafor.

Jeff Zillgitt on the Paul George epiphany that got the Pacers on the right track.

Jason Concepcion on the end of the NBA enforcers.

The Knicks are in a dark place.

Why Nike won’t have All-Star shoes this year.

Yep, the Celtics could win the No. 1 seed and the No. 1 pick.

Yes, Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz are both going to be insanely fun NBA players.

The Washington Mystics are building a Warriors-style superteam!

Be excellent to each other.
