Isaiah Thomas vs. Tyler Ulis may have been the shortest jump ball in NBA history

They’re both 5’9!

Where were you when the shortest jump ball in the history of the NBA happened? I was right here, sitting in a coffee shop in Houston, wondering if I would ever forget this moment again.

Okay, so that might be slight overkill, but I really think this is the shortest jump ball ever. There’s no proof, since tracking the height of both jump ball participates isn’t a common practice in the NBA. But unless Spud Webb faced off against Muggsy Bogues, this one might be the smallest ever.

That’s 5’9 Isaiah Thomas and 5’9 Tyler Ulis, currently sharing the joint title of “shortest player in the NBA” along with 5’9 Kay Felder. Thomas beats Ulis for the tip after the two tied each other up for a jump ball, and equilibrium is restored in the NBA shortly thereafter.

Still, it’s a lovely moment that we may never see again.
