Grizzlies coach David Fizdale invented 2 catchphrases during his referee rant. Which is the best?

“TAKE THAT FOR DATA” vs. “They’re not gonna rook us.”

Grizzlies coach David Fizdale went on a wildly passionate rant against the referees at the end of his team’s Game 2 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. It’s going to cost him in fines, but otherwise is a gold mine for apparel sales.

If you missed it, here’s what he said:

There were many important and inspiring lines from this postgame conference, but two stood above the rest. Let’s think about them.

The case for “They’re not gonna rook us” being the best line

Okay this came after the really heated part of the speech once Fizdale stopped spitting numbers. He gave the obligatory nod that Gregg Popovich is king, but then stood his ground with his desire not to get pushed around like a rookie.

This is hilarious because literally all of the Grizzlies’ best players are old.

But dang he says it so passionately and I just want to run around my town wearing a Mike Conley jersey and yell about the respect referees don’t give me.

Put this on a t-shirt and take all of my money.

The desk slam.

The pause and then the frickin’ desk slam.

This was a closing line made for Mark Zuckerberg’s character in The Social Network.

This is the new mic drop for nerds, and we appreciate its creation.

The line is quick and punchy and beautiful. It might not be as clever, but it’s so hard not to smile when you say it in your head. Typing it out normally isn’t an option, either. This is a caps or nothing deal.

It’s so easy to love this Grizzlies team now.
