Rockets-Thunder series
The Rockets blew open what was a close game in the second quarter of Game 1, throttling Oklahoma City for a 118-87 win. Patrick Beverley provided the energy with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Thunder had no answer for James Harden, who tallied 37 points, nine assists and seven boards in the win.
Game 2 was much closer, and saw the Thunder lead in the fourth quarter, but the split was not to be. Russell Westbrook had the highest-scoring triple-double in NBA playoff history with 51 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists, but Oklahoma City was -15 in the 6½ minutes he was off the floor. Westbrook shooting 4-for-18 in the final quarter didn’t help — though OKC was doomed no matter what he did — and the Rockets pulled away for a 115-111 win.
