If the Spurs want to pick up their first win against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Final, they will have to do it without superstar forward Kawhi Leonard. Leonard will miss his second straight game with an ankle injury, the team has announced.

Leonard originally injured his ankle in the Spurs’ Game 5 win against the Houston Rockets in the previous round. Leonard would miss Game 6, but the Spurs still closed out the series in blowout fashion. Leonard reinjured his ankle against the Warriors in Game 1 on a controversial play when Zaza Pachulia slid under him on a jump shot.

The world found out just how important Leonard is to the Spurs’ machine in Game 1. San Antonio held a 25-point lead at one back before Golden State mounted a huge comeback win after Leonard was sidelined.

Leonard was named First Team All-NBA earlier this week. He is a finalist for MVP after averaging 25.5 points per game.
