Lately, my roommate and I have taken to playing the same “MyPlayer” mode on NBA 2K with the same person. Basically, the object is to see who can score the most amount of points with the most efficiency. I know it’s a bit cliched — a basketball writer playing a basketball video game. But there’s nothing like scoring 46 points while missing just five shots.
LeBron James played an all-time Finals game and lost
James played Game 3 like it was a video game, especially in the first half. It wasn’t enough.

In Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, LeBron James finished the first half with 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. He finished the game with 39 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. The Cavs still couldn’t beat the Warriors, who took a decisive 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals with a 118-113 victory.
If LeBron can’t win like this, how does he ever hope to beat the Warriors?

The real problem is that the Warriors simply have too much firepower in crunch-time. This time it was Kevin Durant who buried the go-ahead three-pointer in James’ face to put the Warriors ahead for good.
That’s the reality of playing the Golden State Warriors. If James isn’t historically good, on an all-time level, then the Cavaliers really stand no chance. If James is, they still might lose. Keeping pace with the Warriors is so, so hard.
What’s even more incredible is that James did all this after this collision with teammate Tristan Thompson — an unfortunate, unlucky play that somehow didn’t cause James to sub out of the game.
In fact, just minutes later, James did this.
Ultimately, the Warriors were just too much. This has to be tough for LeBron. There’s little more he could have done.
