The Cavs’ shot chart from the first half of Game 4 is basketball magic

Cleveland had an 86-point first half. Here’s a picture of it.

Hey, look at what the Cavaliers did to the Warriors in the first half of Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday. It’s a total outrage:

NBA

That’s what shooting efficiency looks like, in one chart from the NBA.

Here’s a slightly more detailed look at this excellence:

Cleveland scored 49 points in the first quarter, the most in any quarter in the history of the Finals. And that’s against one of the best defenses in the NBA, a team blessed with Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, all lockdown defenders. The Cavs have a great offense, but this feat is really incredible.

Golden State scored plenty itself, and the Warriors are still the heavy, heavy favorites to win this series. But the Cavaliers were playing a Finals that, so far, had delivered them precious few worthwhile positive memories. Sports should be fun, and I’m not sure how much more fun basketball can be than scoring all those points in a half.

Head on over to this box score and have your mind blown.
