Ice Cube’s BIG3 basketball three-on-three league is “launching an investigation” on Allen Iverson, a player-coach and captain for the team Three’s Company, after he didn’t show up for a game in Dallas on Sunday. Iverson hasn’t participated all that much in the entire tournament, despite arguably being its biggest star. His not showing up doesn’t bode well for the new league.

He didn’t play at all in the league’s visit to Philadelphia either, where he spent 12 seasons for the 76ers. That’s where he cemented his Hall of Fame legacy.

Iverson issued an apology on Instagram on Tuesday.

Iverson’s team sits in in sixth place out of eight with a 2-4 record. They won in Dallas without him, by four points. Co-captain DeMarr Johnson, a seven-year NBA vet, took Iverson’s place as coach. Iverson’s other teammates include Andre Owens, Michael Sweetney, David Hawkins and Al Thornton.

The league has two more games in Lexington, Ky., and Los Angeles before the playoffs are set to begin Aug. 20 in Seattle. The championship will be held in Vegas six days later, and no one knows if Iverson will rejoin the team by then.
