I guess Brandon Jennings is back

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis Grizzlies
NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis Grizzlies
Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday, the Bucks decided to waive injured Mirza Teletovic in order to make roster space for none other than Brandon Jennings, former Milwaukee hero and current G League star. This was a huge shocker to everyone, except perhaps Jennings.

He made his NBA season debut Monday. He finished with 16-12-8 in 24 big minutes off the bench in a Milwaukee win. The Bucks needed some bench playmaking, and — Lo! — here’s Jennings to provide exactly that.

Where has Jennings been? He played with the Knicks and Wizards last year before spending the first part of this season in China. That didn’t totally work out for some reason; he signed with the G League’s Wisconsin Herd last month and got the call from the Bucks this week. A couple of 10-day contracts will carry him through March, and it’d be cheap for the Bucks to ink him to a minimum deal for the remainder of the season.

Jennings isn’t going to pull a double-nickel in Milwaukee again, but this is fun. This is nice.

... And So Much More

The Spurs are in 10th place. I repeat, the Spurs are in 10th place.

The Awful Eight went 0-2 on Monday, with Memphis picking up their 18th straight loss. It’s kind of incredible to ever lose 18 straight games, especially when there are seven other teams either tanking or so bad they might as well be tanking. I’m legitimately impressed with what the Grizzlies are doing.

Speaking of the Awful Eight, both Wesley Matthews and Kent Bazemore are done for the season.

Daniel Theis is done for the season for the Celtics. He was a nice piece.

The Bulls just aren’t bad enough, and it’s Bobby Portis’ fault.

Patty Mills on the racist taunts he’s faced over the years, in Australia and in the NBA.

Chubbs’ bracket.

The Blazers have won 10 straight. Damian Lillard is still on fire. This convo between Dame and C.J. McCollum is lovely.

Cool story about Devin Booker’s tribute to his grandmother and Lil Mike.

I don’t want to alarm you, but ... the BIG3 has fired Roger Mason as commissioner after Qatari investors with ties to Mason allegedly defrauded the nascent league. Ice Cube replaces Mason as commissioner. Mason alleges this is all a smokescreen and the BIG3 fired him after breaching his contract. I think the BIG3 has officially stolen the old NBA tagline “Where Amazing Happens.”

Eleven games on Tuesday, including Wolves-Wizards (7 p.m. ET) and Nuggets-Lakers (10:30, Jamal Murray Grudge Match) on NBA TV. Full schedule here.

Be excellent to each other.
