The Rockets have not lost a game since the last time I wrote a B-Sides. In fact, they haven’t even lost since Jan. 26, so it’s been a few B-Sides. The playoff races in the East and West are very much heating up as we head into the final month. There is a big chance the Spurs don’t make the playoffs. Heck, the Cavs could drop as low as sixth in the East if they aren’t careful. That’s how close everything is.
NBA B-Sides: DeMarcus Cousins is smiling again and 7 more reasons to love the NBA this week
Plus a lot of “Toy Story”, Shaq’s birthday, and a happy Kyle Lowry this week in the NBA.

So buckle up for a wild finish to the season. In the meantime, let’s B-Sides. Here are seven reasons to love the NBA this week:
1. DeMarcus Cousins is smiling again!
The last time we saw Boogie Cousins, he was so sad during the All-Star game intros that I could hardly stand it. But not this week. Enjoy Boogie hitting a shot from the bench while on crutches and flashing a smile.
2. Russell Westbrook’s son dressed as Woody from ‘Toy Story’
3. And Kyrie Irving showing off his new ‘Toy Story’ themed shoes
There can never be enough Toy Story in the NBA, in my opinion.
There is a Buzz Light Year version too!
You can read more about the shoes here.
4. Kyle Lowry’s pure joy for DeMar DeRozan
DeRozan threw down an instant classic dunk this week against the Pistons in the final seconds of regulation, and no one was more excited about it than Kyle Lowry.
Literally no one. I want to feel this joy that Lowry is feeling.
It comes from a genuine place, too: these two are best friends.
5. Kevin Durant’s pregame dancing keeps getting better
Now a B-sides regular as it should be, and our own Harry Lyles Jr. even talked to the Warriors about this exact thing.
6. Dwyane Wade visited the students Majory Stoneman Douglas High School
Wade has been extremely vocal on the situation in Florida, especially after finding out Joaquin Oliver, a victim of the shooting, was buried in Wade’s jersey. Wade went to the school earlier this week to provide a moment of happiness for the students, many of whom are Heat fans.
It wasn’t just a quick visit though. Wade also took the time to sit down and talk with the students about ways to make change moving forward.
7. Jimmy Butler’s “Run with the Pac” shirt
Here’s to hoping Butler can return healthy to the Wolves as soon as possible. Basketball is so much more fun when he is playing.
8. Shaq’s birthday cake and a surprise visit from his Mom!
The cake was pretty great, but then Mom showed up and Shaq started acting right. As Isiah Thomas said “You straightened up real quick when you saw her.”
My favorite James Harden photo of the Week
See ya next week, friends. Tweet me your B Sides, and I’ll include them in the next round.
