Joel Embiid is expected to play in Game 3 and he’s teasing a new mask. This mask is so special that he had to ask the league for permission to wear it beforehand. According to Ramona Shelburne, the mask has protective eyewear built into it. It’s also both carbon and poly carbonate.

A DANG WELDER’S MASK
Ramona Shelburne reported that the mask has protective eyewear and the it is stronger than your typical gear worn at an NBA game. That sounds like a welder’s mask to me. And it’s not going to be one of those old-school welder’s masks that resemble a flat rectangle with a viewfinder. No, it’s going to be this hyper-futuristic mask that companies sell now. They look like our robot overlords from the not-so-distant future, which makes sense, because Joel is the future of the NBA.
BLACK PANTHER MASK
Victor Oladipo has already done it! Just wear it! It’s perfect!
POINT BREAK MASKS
One for each quarter. Imagine getting dunked on by Jimmy Carter. I know I can.
BANE’S MASK
Embiid did use a Bane quote the first time he tested the mask tweeting out, “No one cared who I was until I put on the mask.” That’s not really true. Plenty of people have cared about Embiid before he put on this mask. This one also wouldn’t do much to protect his orbital fracture. But it would be scary!
GUY FAWKES MASK
The best part about imagining Joel Embiid wearing a Guy Fawkes mask is that you know he’s probably not a V for Vendetta fan or really into the Guy Fawkes legend or anything. He would just think it’s an awesome mask that’s intimidating and kind of fun and wear it. A bonus is that teammates would absolutely be able to convince him to come out in the wig or the hat or the hooded cloak from the movie as well for effect. P for Process much?
