2018 All-NBA results: Damian Lillard can’t say he was snubbed, and LeBron James breaks record

Lillard was voted as a first-team guard, while James became the first player ever to be voted to the first team 12 different times.

The NBA announced the 2018 All-NBA teams on Thursday, with two players, LeBron James and James Harden, being unanimously named to the first team. This is James’ 12th time on the All-NBA first team, more than any other player in league history.

The most surprising name on the ballot might be Damian Lillard’s first team inclusion. Lillard was certainly deserving of consideration, and he will likely garner some fourth- and fifth-place MVP votes, too, after a sensational regular season that brought the Portland Trail Blazers to the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. (All-NBA is a regular season award; hold your first round sweep jokes.) Still, after several seasons of Lillard being snubbed for various All-Star spots, it was still surprising to see his name over the likes of Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, and others.

Behind James and Harden, the top vote-getters were Anthony Davis, Lillard, and Kevin Durant. The first five players who were left off: Chris Paul, Rudy Gobert, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, and Al Horford.

Here’s the first team plus voting totals.
